POLYGRAPHS
WHY SUBMIT EMPLOYEES TO A POLYGRAPH?

Integrity is not simply a personal virtue, but a social one as well.In fact, there
may be no other virtue in which an individual’s personal cultivation of it has
such a large effect on society as a whole. When one individual decides to act
in an unethical manner, his example can influence others to act likewise,
resulting in a domino effect that lowers the standards of an ever-widening
group of people in an organization or your company.
Dishonesty has a slow, creeping, socially erosive effect. As the virus spreads
from one person to another, a new, less ethical code of conduct develops.
Although it is subtle and gradual, the final outcome can be disastrous. This is
the real cost of even minor instances of stealing and the reason one needs to
be more vigilant in one’s efforts to curb and stop even small infractions.
Dishonesty breeds low productivity, demotivates and destroys.
This virus of dishonesty is no abstract idea. It surely started with a few
individuals who were willing to let things slide. Those around them saw that
this was the new norm and began to adopt the same standards. When new
employees are introduced into the work environment, they adopt what had
by then become the sub-standard culture of your organization. Even the
people contracted to do the cleaning and security end up being infected by
the same disease they were supposed to cure.
It normally starts small and if this person is not apprehended and removed
from your business, others might observe his behavior; He gets away with it,
so why can’t I do it?” That is where the Polygraph, and its preventative
manner, is a powerful tool, since it can establish who is out of line and needs
to be corrected and/or dealt with in order to save your business from greater losses.
